In an unexpected event, Musashikuni has retired. As most readers know, Musashikuni was one of two North Americans currently competing in professional sumo. He has been a long-time figure in makushita, but he has also struggled with injuries in recent months and years. It is currently reported that Musashikuni decided to retire due to these injuries, and he will be moving back to Hawaii.
Musashikuni brought us a lot of joy in his sumo, and we wish him the best on his future. We know he will succeed in whatever he chooses to do next. Hopefully we will see him in American amateur sumo at some point!
